Condominium corporation chooses green power
Calgary, June 2, 2008 — Bullfrog Power™, a leading Canadian provider of
100 per cent green electricity, today announced that Vento Condominium Corporation, a condominium corporation featuring 20 townhouse-style residential units and a retail unit with seven stores, has agreed to purchase clean, renewable power for its common areas in Calgary, Alberta. Vento Condominium Corporation joins the growing list of Canadian businesses and organizations that are showing their support for the supply and development of green power.
“The Vento is the first LEED® Platinum Certified multi-residential building in North America and becoming bullfrogpowered is an extension of our commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Doug Boyd, President, Vento Condominium Corporation. “We are taking a leadership role in our industry and supporting renewable energy sources in Alberta.”
The Vento achieved LEED Platinum Certified status through various green features, including the use of storm water in landscaping and toilets as well as heat recovery units. Units have radiant floor heating, dual-flush toilets and 100 per cent recycled countertops. Vento residences are designed to use approximately half the amount of water and energy used by similar-sized units.
