Alberta’s only all-green electricity provider celebrates first-year success
Green Albertans jump on board with Bullfrog Power™
Calgary, June 19, 2008 — Albertans have put out a green welcome mat for Bullfrog Power, a leading Canadian provider of 100 per cent green electricity that is now celebrating one year of providing clean, emissions-free green power to Albertans.
Since Bullfrog launched in Alberta on June 5, 2007, close to 1,000 residential and commercial customers have signed on. Bullfrog’s commercial customers in Alberta include Wal-Mart, BMO Financial Group, TD Bank Financial Group, RBC, lululemon athletica, Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut, Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery and Flexahopper Plastics. Bullfrog has also partnered with The Pembina Institute, WWF-Canada and CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society).
The bullfrogpowered™ community will join Bullfrog in celebrating its first year in Alberta at special customer appreciation events in Calgary and Edmonton. The events will feature live music, food and a chance for customers to interact and celebrate their collective effort toward greening their power and reducing their electricity-related emissions footprint.
“Alberta businesses and residential customers continue to show leadership in energy innovation and green thinking, and Bullfrog is here to meet this province’s growing demand for locally produced green electricity,” said Theresa Howland, Vice President, Western Region, Bullfrog Power. “As the only Alberta electricity provider that exclusively sells green power, we are thrilled by Alberta’s enthusiastic response over the past year.”
Bullfrog Power greens its customers’ electricity use by injecting clean, emissions-free EcoLogoM-certified electricity onto the Alberta electricity grid to match the amount of power used by each customer. In Alberta, Bullfrog sources green power from wind facilities including the Oldman River wind farm near Pincher Creek.
“Homes by Avi is proud to support Bullfrog Power in the effort to reduce our company’s emissions footprint,” said Darren Soltes, Vice President Business Development, Homes by Avi. “Using Alberta-made green energy to power our business is consistent with our goal of sustainability, and it sets an example that distinguishes us as a company that is innovative and responsive to the health of our community.”
